The Race

The LOGICO Swazi Frontier is a pair’s stage race held over 3 days in the North West corner of Swaziland. The route is carefully designed to showcase some of Swaziland’s most spectacular and scenic mountains and valleys. Overnights stops are at a variety of very attractive and comfortable resorts, lodges and hotels where riders will experience a mix of accommodation including chalets, backpackers, cottages, dorms and luxury rooms.  On the first night only, some riders may stay in tents.

The route

The route follows a logical progression from one overnight venue to the next and covers a total of 180kms.  Make no mistake, Swaziland is not flat!   As a result, this race is tailored for hard-core, mountain bike purists.

Day 1 – Hawane Resort to Bulembu Lodge – approx 60kms
Day 2 – Bulembu Lodge to Orion Piggs Peak Hotel – approx 60kms
Day 3 – Orion Piggs Peak Hotel to Maguga Lodge – approx 60kms

Teams

Teams in The LOGICO Swazi Frontier may consist of either men’s or mixed pairs.  The field will be limited to a maximum of 90 teams of 2.

All teams must be self-sufficient in terms of bike maintenance and equipment as well as basic first aid as some sections of the route are quite inaccessible to the medics.

The invitation

Entries to The LOGICO Swazi Frontier are by invitation only.  If you or your friends would like to receive an invitation, please send a request with your/their full name(s) and email address(es)to info@theswazifrontier.sz

Supporters

Although The LOGICO Swazi Frontier is an unsupported race and no seconding is allowed, we do welcome family and friends to book a supporters package through us.
Due to limited accommodation at the overnight venues and our aim to enable as many riders as possible to participate, unfortunately, it is not possible for supporters to stay at the race venues on the nights we are there.  Limited capacity at the race venues also means that supporters cannot stay for supper at any of the race venues except for the prize-giving supper at Maguga Lodge.
A limited number of supporters packages are available provided that they are pre-booked.  The supporters package includes accommodation at the nearby Phophonyane Lodge and Nature Reserve (which we have booked exclusively for the duration of the race for our supporters only), daily lunches at each of the race venues and also entrance to the prize-giving lunch and supper at Maguga Lodge.  We will notify riders when we open bookings for supporters packages.  Bookings may be made only through us.
Supporters must be registered with us if they would like access to the race venues (for any purpose).

Accommodation

The entry fee includes 3 nights’ accommodation and all meals from registration (ie accommodation on the 10th  (Hawane Resort), 11th (Bulembu Country Lodge) and 12th (Orion Piggs Peak hotel) up to and including the prize-giving supper on Saturday 13th October (Maguga Lodge).  Accommodation on Saturday night at Maguga Lodge is not included in the entry fee.

We have booked Maguga Lodge exclusively for Saturday 13th October.  We will notify riders when we open the bookings for accommodation on Saturday night at Maguga Lodge.

We recommend that you stay over at Maguga Lodge on Saturday night as we always have a great party.

Weather

Weather is generally hot but it can be wet.  The start of Day 1 is likely to be misty as you climb over the Ngwenya Mountain.  Typically, the conditions will clear as you drop to lower altitudes.  Day 2 and Day 3 are at lower altitudes and can be very hot.  Be prepared for all conditions.  Our dry runs have been extremely hot but there has also been cold and wet weather recently.
